Finnair Finnair, the Finnish national carrier, has chosen Nordic GSE to perform external aircraft cleaning for its fleet at the Helsinki-Vantaa Airport. The task is performed with the unique Nordic Aerowash 8000. Kimmo Kuronen, Senior Technical Manager at Finnair Technical, is very pleased with the equipment: "Finnair quality definitions are high and we do not compromise them. We experience that Aerowash 8000 fulfils the expectations of high external washing standards: Aerowash 8000 reduces ground maintenance time needed for external washing by adding work efficiency and quality. The equipment meets those definitions that any airline places on the reliability and efficiency of maintenance performance. The Aerowash 8000 makes it possible, for the first time, to plan an efficient and fast external cleaning for wide-bodied planes. I believe that this equipment will become a major part in increasing external cleaning efficiency in many airlines." Kimmo Kuronen is also very pleased with Nordic GSE as a supplier: "It is great to find a manufacturer who is focused on the aircraft external cleaning segment and who has such a comprehensive know-how on external washing. We are very pleased with their technology and general work practices and the focus they are giving to the customer, so that the customer expectations are fulfilled." Mantena Mantena, a service company to Norwegian State Railways (NSB), installed the Nordic De- / Anti-Icing 15 000 in Drammen, outside Oslo, in 2005. After several successful years of operation, Mantena ordered three more systems in 2009. Tommy Thygesen, technical manager of Mantena Drammen, describes the great advantages with the Nordic De- / Anti-Icing systems: • In general, ice problems have been decreased by 50 percent. • The amount of ice on a normal train set has been reduced by 50-60 percent. • The amount of ice on a heavily iced train has been reduced by 60-70 percent. • The ice comes off easier: It takes less than half the time. • The need for de-icing has been sharply reduced: 60 percent fewer trains need to be de-iced. • Faster de-icing: with anti-icing treatment, eventual de-icing takes less than half the time. Stockholm Skavsta Airport Stockholm Skavsta Airport has a Nordic Lavatory Service Truck in operation. Thomas Falkeborn, Ramp Manager, is very pleased with the battery-powered toilet service truck. "The vehicle works very well. We are very pleased with the functionality and it is also easy to maneuver out at the ramp," said Thomas Falkeborn. Nordic Lavatory Service Truck has built-in flowmeters which automatically shuts-off at the set value of water and chemicals. "It makes the vehicle both easy and safe to use," says Thomas Falkeborn. An effective carbon filter ensures that the emptying is completely odorless. In addition, the Nordic Lavatory Service Truck does not emit any odor when parked indoors. "It has greatly improved the staff's working environment and makes it easier to perform service", says Falkeborn. The Finnish National Railway (VR) VR was one of several clients during 2010 who ordered Nordic Anti-Icing systems to be installed for the winter 2010 – 2011. The new systems are in operation both for local and long distance trains, including the high speed Pendolino manufactured by Alstom. VR held a press conference in Helsinki, Finland on the 4th of January 2011, where some 40 journalist were introduced to the "latest weapon against winter time challenges at VR". VR wanted to share their positive experience of using the Nordic Anti-Icing 15 000 with the public as a way forward in fighting the winter challenges. The following quotations are from a few of several newspapers which published the news in Finland. Also all major news channels published footage of the system and interviews in their main news broadcasts. Otto Lehtipuu, Environmental and Public Ralations Director: "VR trains have been better in keeping their schedule then last year and we expect the situation to futher improve due to the anti-icing system installed". Helsingin Sanomat (newspaper), 4.1.2011 Ari Vanhanen, Long Distance Traffic Director: "Before we have had to use warm water or air and a lot of energy to de-ice trains – this is a considerable improvement". HBL (newspaper), 4.1.2011 Ari Vanhanen, Long Distance Traffic Director: "The systems in Helsinki depot are used for both local and long distance traffic anti-icing and the experience is positive. The regular de-icing of trains for tons of ice is taking several hours – the systems are bringing help to this". Tekniikka & Talous, (magazine) 4.1.2011
